EBS Occupational Health - Specific Service

Health Awareness Day

All employers need, and want, a happy and healthy workforce. Educating employees to develop a healthy lifestyle and assisting them in maintaining their health and wellbeing, both physically and psychologically, is a key part of helping to achieve this.

It is well recognised that absenteeism through ill-health is both costly and disruptive to employers – the average reported cost for sickness is £567 per employee per year (CIPD) with the major reasons for absenteeism being minor illnesses, musculoskeletal injuries and stress.

EBS Occupational Health can deliver a ‘Health Awareness Day’ at your workplace which provides an effective way of promoting health and wellbeing to your employees. The programme is designed not only to benefit the individual but also to support management in helping to reduce absenteeism and in promoting a healthier workforce. The programme is run by two experienced and qualified Workplace Practitioners (an Occupational Health Advisor and Acupressure Therapist). Together, they can offer:-

  • Lifestyle interview with advice covering diet, exercise, smoking and alcohol
  • Cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure tests
  • Nutrition advice
  • Seated Acupressure Therapy
  • Display Screen Equipment positioning advice
  • Manual Handling advice.

At the end of the session, the Workplace Practitioners will give a verbal feedback to the employer on some of the possible general workplace health issues/behaviours which they have identified which may be impacting on employee health and welfare and the overall organisation effectiveness. This is an opportunity for employers to discuss such issues as absenteeism, musculoskeletal injuries and stress. Advice can be given on the risk assessment process and the steps which could be taken to minimise potential risks to employee health and safety.

(Please note that all individual consultations/results will be treated in the strictest confidence – only general feedback will be given to management).
